Ben Funnell Baggs his Boots

Ben annonced to the playing group just before running out on to ANZ Stadium last weekend that it would be his last game. Ben has been a loyal and dedicated player and Club person over 13 years. Fellow 200 gamer Jay Kickett said Ben has been the heart of the club in the time he has been there and he can play a bit as well. Unfortunatley Ben had a serious leg injury a few years ago but that never slowed his endevour. Good Luck in reitrement Ben and thanks for your dedication and service to the Tuggeranong Football Club.

Jim Rice(217 senior games) said of Ben, " he scares his team-mates with his lack of respect for his body. Regularly leaping into packs with the flight of the footy more often coming out the other side with it.  He’s exciting to watch, smooth when he carry’s the ball and loves to have a bounce. He is damaging to any side in any position he plays, fwd, in the Midfield and in the backline.

As a colts player I aspired to play like Bags and have always admired his love for football, for the club and for his team mates.

Bags is very highly respected by his team mates and his services to the senior side will be dearly missed in the coming years. There is no doubt you will see Bags teaching a lot of the young blokes in the reserves on a number of occasions in 2010.
