Redland 13.11 - 89 def by
Mt Gravatt 25.12 - 162
The Bombers have notched up their 4th win of the season with a 52 point demolition of the Brisbane Lions at Shark park yesterday.
The home side won every quarter for the match and had 12 individual goal scorers to finish with a massive telly of 27 majors.
The day started strongly for the Bombers who kicked the first four goals of the match and finished with an accurate 8.0 for te term. Midfielders Tom Salter and Shaun Huy got the home side off to a strong start with Jeff White and Jarrod Grimm having complete control of the ruck for the day.
The second quarter saw leading goal kicker Jason Eagle fire up and boot four of his five majors. Eagle was well supported up forward by Adam Mueller and Daniel Mowat up forward but 14 of the Bombers 27 goals came through its onball brigade. Thomson, Charlesworth, Carse and Huy all booting multiple goals.
Matt Thomson played his best game for the club, nullifying AFL listed opponent Matt Austin and while kicking 4 goals himself and taking several strong marks around the ground.
The final quarter saw the Bombers kick 8.1. White and Grimm were again dominant in the middle and Carse got plenty of clearances to see the Bombers hit the lead by 70 points in the final quarter. Redland has produced a strong effort in every final quarter in 2009 as testament to their fitness and strength, which is a credit to coach Jackie Daniels.
The Bombers will face off against the two big names of the AFLQ competition over the coming weeks in Mt Gravatt and Southport.
