Thomson Latest NAB Rising Star

Matt Thomson wins the round 5 rising star award for his strong performance against the Brisbane Lions.

Thomson collected 27 possessions and kicked four goals in a best on ground performance. He was also able to negate the influence of AFL listed player Matt Austin.

"Thommo" has been prominant since his return to the senior line-up in round 3 and continues to grow in confidence. At just 18 years of age and after an impressive state U18 carnival last year Thomson is still a chance to grab the attention of scouts throughout QLD.

James Charlesworth, 20, also won the award in round 3 meaning two Redlands players have won the award within the first five rounds.
