Seven Bombers make the State Open Squad

A record seven Bombers have made the initial Queensland State squad for 2009 to take on Tasmania in Hobart on June 7.

Phil Carse, James Charlesworth, Jason Eagle, Anthony Marguccio, Adam Mueller, Josh Norman and Jeff White have all made the 38 man squad.

It is a vast improvement from last season where Carse was the only player to make the squad and missed out on playing against Western Australia which meant Redlands had no representation at all.

Averaging 7 goals a game Jason Eagle has commanded a spot at full forward in the side while Jeff White has been a dominant ruckman, particularly in recent weeks.

Jasmes Charlesworth and Anthony Marguccio have both proved elusive up forward while Adam Mueller has also given another strong target to support Eagle. Mueller represented the state at U21 level last season and will relish the step up.

Norman has been a revelation in defence holding down many of the leagues best centre half forwards while Carse has been busy in the midfield throughout the season.

The Bombers have the third highest representation with seven players, narrowly behind powerhouse clubs Southport and Mornignside who both have eight.

Including the six players that made the U21 squad the Bombers have 13 players with the chance to play representative footy in 2009.

Congratulations to the boys and good luck!
