1st Qualifying Final - Southport Vs Redland

The Bombers will play their first final in over eight years against the Southport Sharks at Fankhauser reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The Bombers are yet to defeat the Sharks in the QAFL in its ten seasons, and will enter the qualifying final as gross underdogs.

However in 2009 the fortunes of the two clubs have changed, and although the Bombers are yet to record a victory against the Sharks, they have pushed them to the line on both occasions, losing by 16 and 24 points respectively.

Both of those contests were fought in the wet and Saturday afternoons match will be in fine - hot conditions on the large Fankhauser deck.

Both teams enter the match at close to full strength although injury clouds hover over Redland forward James Charlesworth and Sharks duo Jason Burge and Fraser Pope.

Jeff White returns for the Bombers after he was rested in the Bombers big win over the Tigers.

The Bombers will be looking to make history with their fast pace attacking style of football and plenty of fans are expected to turn out to watch the match.

The victor will face off against Morningside the following week for a spot in the Grand Final, while the vanquished will square off against the winner of the Brisbane Lions and Mt Gravatt Vultures.

Good luck Bombers!
