Charlesworth wins NAB Rising Star Award

James Charlesworth has won the NAB rising star award at last nights Grogan medal count, polling 43 votes from a possible 50. Justin Myers placed in 4th with 23 votes.

The NAB rising star hold plenty of weight withing Queensland footy with four of the previous 5 winners going on to get drafted.

In fact, three of last years top five found themselves on AFL lists in 2009, with winner Rohan Bail (Melbourne), Dayne Beams (Collingwood) and Adam Spackman (Brisbane) all getting picked up.

Other previous winners include David Armitage (2006), Sam Gilbert (2005) and Marty Pask (2004).

The voting was awared by all 10 AFLQ coaches on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. The players season, state commitments and AFL potential was all taken into account when deciding who to vote for.
