Broadie Under 18s back on the winning list

Broadbeach V’s Sandgate 26/7/09

Round 13, another perfect day for footy our boys came up against Sandgate who were sitting a couple of spots above Broadie on the ladder.
With the seniors having a bye Craig had the unusual luxury of playing some of the guys who have been representing Broadbeach in the higher grades.

A great start in the first quarter by The Cats who appeared to be focussed on winning the ball. Our boys played attacking footy and kept the opposition goalless.
Quarter time-
Broadbeach 3:4 – 22
Sandgate 0 : 3 – 3

Broadbeach came out in the second quarter still playing the better footy although Sandgate now appeared to step up and prove to be more competitive than they were in the first, kicking 4 goals to Broadies 3 in this term.
The guys worked hard to retain their lead and went in for the long break 14 points up.
Half time –
Braodbeach 6 : 5 – 41
Sandgate 4 : 3 – 27

The third quarter was a fairly even tussle with both sides showing grit and determination to be first to the ball. On the occasions when the ball was cleared cleanly out of the middle goals came much easier. Some really good passages of play around the ground lifted the cats starting their final quarter with a handy 21 point lead.
Three quarter time –
Braodbeach 9 : 7 – 61
Sandgate 6 : 4 - 40

The final quarter belonged to Broadbeach and to their credit our guys continued to play positive football, providing options to the player with the ball at the same time working hard to maintain pressure on the opposition. It was a great 30 point win to The Cats who deserved the 4 points and maybe just kept their finals hopes alive…..
Full time –
Broadbeach 11 : 12 78
Sandgate 7 : 6 – 48
