With not only pride but a berth in the finals at stake our boys were pumped and keen for a win.
This was reflected in the first quarter by some skilful passages of play and accurate kicking with the breeze for goal. Broadbeach appeared hungrier and more focussed and managed to kick 5 goals to 2. Quarter

The second quarter however was not as one sided, Aspley worked hard to redeem their effort in the first quarter. They kicked 2 goals, 1 behind whilst keeping Broadbeach to just 4 behinds for the term. The match ups seemed more even and it became obvious the game was not going to be a walkover. The boys went into the long break still up but only by 9 points. Half time: Broadbeach 5 :4 – 34 Aspley 4 : 1 – 2
Aspley maintained their pressure and their ability to score majors in the third quarter. At times Broadbeach looked a little bewildered and were finding it difficult to man up and to clear the ball, many turnovers resulting. With accurate kicking a 4 goal to 1 third quarter gave the opposition a 7 point lead going in at the final change. Three

Early snaps for goal in the fourth quarter kept Broadbeach in contention. The lead changed several times with all players now working really hard to win the ball. Our defence tightened which assisted in the forwards having more
opportunity to attack. With only a few minutes to go and Aspley one point up; desperation and clever passing finally resulted in a late goal by the captain to score a win for The Cats. This time our boys could sing their song.
Now looking like we will make the finals it is important to realise how vital it is to keep the intensity up for the whole game and also how crucial it is to play disciplined footy for the 4 quarters.
