Under 18s take one more step

A
home game elimination final against Noosa was played in perfect conditions on
Sunday.

With
a near to full strength team to take the field and although probably the
underdogs, the Cats were always going to be a chance. Some good signs early for
the boys resulting in an opening goal against the wind reinforced this. The
Broady side seemed more switched on and had the ball in their attack way more
than did the opposition. Despite this the boys were unable to capitalise on the
scoreboard, though they did keep Noosa goalless.

Quarter time- Broadbeach 1 : 1 – 7   Noosa 0 : 1 – 1

In what should have been our quarter kicking with the wind, Noosa came out looking stronger and playing the more direct footy. Poor checking and some sloppy disposal by the Cats at times resulted in turnovers allowing the opposition to outscore Broadbeach in the second quarter. The first half was a tight tussle resulting in a low scoring game, with only a point in it there was no clear winner.
Half time – Broadbeach 3 : 1 – 19 Noosa 3 :2 – 20

After the long break the Cats played a solid quarter, many of the boys stepping up and contributing to some good passages of play. A 2 goal to nil 3rd term gave the boys a handy 8 point lead in a game where goals were hard to score.
Three quarter time – Broadbeach 5 : 1 – 31 Noosa 3 : 5 – 23

Broadbeach now had their tails up and worked hard all over the ground to increase their lead and win the game. The cats were more focussed on playing footy which resulted in a 22 point win at the final siren.

This win now gives us another chance as we meet Mt Gravatt in the Semi final next
week. Well done Craig and the guys .
