BEN HEFFERNAN-ROPER WINS BILL PEIRCE MEDAL

Classy midfielder Ben Heffernan-Roper has won the prestigious Bill Peirce Medal as the 2009 Tradelink Western Magpies Best and Fairest and was presented his medal by club champion Bill Peirce at the clubs Awards Presentation Night on Saturday Night. Bomber was a clear winner in the voting with 44 votes from runner up Chris Judson on 29 votes from key 2009 recruit Ed McDonnell on 28 votes. Heffernan-Roper was very gracious in his acceptance speech as he thanked his family, team mates, Senior Coach Paul Grentell, Warren Vines, and all the coaching and support staff for their contribution to his season. He also picked up the best midfield award and Ed McDonald was awarded the Shaffert-Garner Most Consistent Award and best back while Luke Scott picked up the BG Award one of the clubs most coveted awards named in the spirit and memory of Brett Gwyther for courage. All other award winners from the night are listed below.

The Reserves Best and Fairest was won by Reid Dobson who was also Runner Up Best and Fairest for the QAFL Velocity Sports Reserves Competition in 2009 and the Maurie McNamee Medal for U/18 Best and Fairest was won by the Captain Stuart Wenham in an outstsanding season.
