Under 18's PREMIERS for 2009

SPRINGWOOD PUMAS PREMIERS 2009

Springwood 12 . 13 . 85 defeated Burleigh 9 . 11 . 65

Congratulations to the players (and all who contributed towards the Minor Premiership in the home-and-away season), esteemed premiership Coach Paul Opbroek and his assistants Nigel, Steve and Will, Team Manager Dean Sutton, and Major Sponsors Menz Refrigerated Transport (David & Maree Menz) and Allwood Timber Floors (Paul Opbroek).

Congratulations to Rowan Page who was voted by the umpires as 'player of the grand final'.  Luke McMahon, Dan Schmidt and Matt Preston-Smith also had outstanding games in a team of champions.

Congratulations to Corey Driscoll who played his 150th game for the club and celebrated with 2 goals.

Sincere thanks to the Greg Kreiger and the many volunteers at the Beenleigh AFC who hosted the grand final, the hundreds of Pumas' supporters who came down to get behind the boys, and to the Burleigh team who gave such a great account of themselves in the final's series.

Message from Brian Douge AFLQ - Coordinator of the Under 18 competitions:

CONGRATULATIONS!!

On behalf of AFL Queensland and the teams in the Sportsready U18 competition, congratulations on winning the 2009 premiership. To be the trend setter all season and to 'combat' quality opposition in the finals is testimony to the professionalism displayed by the coaching/support staff and the club. Springwood certainly expounded the messages pertaining to respect for umpires and the opposition and as a result moved the football culture in the right direction.

Brian
