The Sandringham Football Club would like to extend their thanks to the Sandringham Community Bendigo Bank who last night provided the club a grant of $2300 to install a Defibrillator at the club as well as renewing their sponsorship for the 2012 season.
Installing a Defibrillator at the Sandringham Football Club provides a venue that is safer for the players, officials and supporters who visit and will assist in preventing further heart related deaths. A Defibrillator dramatically increases the chance of survival should a cardiac arrest occur and having a Defibrillator installed at the ground will enable the Club to react to a life threatening situation of a cardiac arrest should it happen.
The cost of purchasing the package which includes the unit, it’s installation and staff members from the club being trained how to use it is $2,300 from Defib Your Club For Life. Defib Your Club For Life, is a not for profit initiative, which is about teaching the community how to react to its own life threatening situation of a sudden cardiac arrest in a calm and controlled manner, knowing that they have the equipment, skill and understanding to do so. The initiative was commenced after the death of Stephen Buckman, a 19 year old Rupertswood Football Club player who died suddenly at training after suffering a cardiac arrest in 2010.
Having the Defibrillator installed and people trained in using the equipment is important to provide a safe venue for the community. Trevor Barker Beach Oval is used all year around by the community and various community organisations, the Clubs Social Club facility is also used throughout the year by local residents and businesses for conferences and events.
Installing the Defib machine would not have been possible without the Bendigo Banks support so get behind the bank that keeps giving back to the community!
