Rebels Seek Return To Winners List

Learmonth Oval will be the venue for the North Ballarat Rebels clash with Eastern Ranges in Round 12 of the TAC Cup. This week’s match commences at 2:00pm at a venue the Rebels have become familiar with this year. The VFL Roosters Reserves will be the Curtain Raiser starting at 11.10am.

Following losses during the past few rounds the Rebels will be aiming to get back on the winners list. The match against the Ranges is a chance to reverse recent form and secure a place in the upper half of the ladder as the season heads deeper into its second half.

The two teams clashed in Round 7 with the Rebels victorious by 67 points in the match played at Box Hill City Oval. Both sides were without several key playmakers due to U/18 National Championships matches then and will be again this weekend. David Astbury (Tatyoon), Andrew Hooper (Golden Point), Josh Cowan (Daylesford) and Ben Peters (Ballarat) will again be playing for Vic Country while Oliver Tate (North Ballarat JFC) has been elevated to that squad for his first game this weekend.

Josh Free has also been promoted to the North Ballarat Roosters senior side to play as the 23rd player under a new VFL rule that permits TAC Cup players to play at the higher level which is a fantastic for the development of elite players.

Debuts this week will be made by Nick O’Keefe (East Point) and Michael O’Callagahan (Horsham) who have been rewarded for good local form.
