The undermanned reserves side went down gallantly by eight point in the curtain raiser but this fortitude was relayed to the senior side who kicked 7 goals to zero in the first quarter. All the run and confidence was there and it looked like it was going to be a case of "how far the Bloods". Hammer showed up in the forward line, the Browns were everywhere and Frogga was at his industrious best. Confidence oozed and the supporters were disappointed when the new Mary Elliot, the great Barry Lay rang the bell for the break. Numbers at the huddles have been down a bit this year but it was an enthusiastic lot who ventured out to hear how we were going to win by a thousand goals.
Unfortunately this confidence was overdone. While we kicked the first goal of the quarter, two players, numbers one and three (cant be bothered going to the record to find names) from Rovers decided they were going to have a crack. While we managed to kick three for the quarter, Rovers kicked eight to get themselves back in the game. The defence was under seige as the vistors continually got the centre break and the tide had certainly turned. Ferg was standing up across the half back line while Chis and Spence Roberts were attempting to turn things around. But for all that we still had a 14 point lead but it was certainly a case of game on.
So what could we expect in the third quarter? We had the use of a wind which was abating and there was a sense that this was really going to be the Premiership quarter. Hammer kicked a goal early to give us some breathing space and the players were also releaved. But Rovers kept coming back and while some of the kicks were reminiscent of Gareth Andrews at his worst, they were going through the two uprights. But there were some really encouraging passages of play as the game gradually opened up. There was some good run off the backline from the likes of Ferg and Limon and the signs were promising. Harvs was filling the holes and while both sides kicked five goals, they kicked the last two of the quarter and the body language gave every indication that they thought an upset was about to occur.
So we went into the last quarter with an 11 point buffer and they had the scoring end. Once again Hammer kicked the first goal of the quarter and importantly Vossy had been sent to the last line of defence to show that number 3 who was Boss - and it proved to be the Voss. It was a bit of an arm wrestle then for about 5 -10 minutes as we attempted to get completely on top. Lille was doing well around the ground with some good strong marks and A Brown was starting to wrack up possessions. Sec, who had spent a bit of time on the pine proved the old addage about tall blokes not getting any shorter and took a couple of telling marks.Rhy Johnson and Nathan Holloway began to bob up during this period and Chis kept up his attack on the ball. After a series of handballs and short passes, captain Sam found himself with the ball and kicked truly to put the result beyond doubt. Spencer Roberts chimed in for another to ensure the chocolates.
We are still finals hopefuls but essentially need to win every game from here.

Ray White Goal of the Day
Again anothe rteam goal and I cannot claim to remember all the players involved. All i know is that it happened in the third quarter and started with a Ferguson strong mark, chip to Harvey, to Chisolm , to D Brown, to Roberts and finally to Vossy to finish it off. It was circle work at its best!!
BOQ Mark of the Day
Bit of tough one here as Vossy diving mark in the last quarter snuffed out any hopes the Rovers had. But Chris Ferguson once again put in a fine display of aerial aerobics, pulling down a number of strong marks.
