The Townsville City Lions AFL Club will be selling the Rotary community chest art union raffle to win a new Mazda 300H. Valued at $25,664.00 (on road) Tickets cost $2 each and the draw will be held on the 25th June.

Seniors
What a big day for footy. At the Harold Philips oval we had the Garbutt Bombers that we are assisting in development, then the United Beaches Barra’s (our Junior base) followed by the Townsville City Lions. It was great to see the large amount of players and spectators at this oval, it has gone a long way from last year when we played our first Senior games at our home ground. Thank you to a very hard working committee, supporter and sponsor base that allow us to progress in a professional manner. If you can help out just ask as all help is appreciated.

Good Sports provides free support to sporting clubs to change their culture and reduce high risk drinking. Under the program, clubs will focus more on young people, families and sport participation and less on drinking alcohol.

Graham Malthouse has kindly donated $1000 to the Townsville City Lions AFL Club for the purpose of a much needed scoreboard. The scoreboard will be a dedicated remembrance for his much loved son Brodie Malthouse. Graham is a valued supporter of the Townsville City Lions AFL Club and enjoys supporting the club in its endeavours to move forward and grow. This kind donation is the first to be provided from the Brodie Malthouse Foundation and is a worthy cause as expressed by Graham Malthouse.

Also top effort to Leon Stubbs again for his work with the school boys. Leon has started the Garbutt Bombers up and train and play at Harold Phillips oval.

The Townsville City Lions will be hosting a big day of AFL at the Harold Phillips oval on the 18th May. The Garbutt Bombers, The Barras and the Hawks will all be playing.

NEATO employment services have been nominated for the Townsville Bulletin “Nab a Navara” competition. The competition will have the 6 groups who collect and submit to the Townsville Bulletin the most tokens win a twin cab Navara to use for 6 months.

NEATO Employment services have been doing great work with volunteers cleaning up around the Castle Hill PCYC, the Muldoon and Neil French ovals at Murray sporting complex. The winners here are the Townsville City Lions, Hermit Park and Curra Swans AFL clubs.

Townsville Northern Suburbs Lions Club have been again assisting the Townsville City Lions AFL Club on game days. The Lions are also looking for other ways to assist with moving the score board. With thanks to Aussie and Toni Lanphire for organising this.

Available numbers getting better we had a six miss out on selection for this round with more away and unavailable due to work or injury. Several new players started playing for the Lions in both Seniors and Reserves and performed well. We are conducting some player rotations and aim to view as many players as possible for the benefit of the team over the season.

Another big effort for the Townsville City Lions with last Saturday start with the Garbutt Bombers playing then into the Lions games. A big effort from the committee again. On the 18th we have 3 junior with the Barras and the Bombers games then the Lions V the Hawks.

Dental sports injuries are increasing, particularly amongst sports traditionally considered medium or low contact.
