Last week three current and one past Hibiscus Coast AFC players were named in the U17 training squad preparing for the 2010 World Cup in Trinidad and Tabago. With three of these girls playing each week in our women's reserve team this is the highest number of players from any one club or team apart from the girls in Claudelands Rovers women's team which is a rural development team.

Bernie Anderson our Junior Goal Keeper of the year made it as a goal keeper a position she only seriously considered 8 months ago. Jess Innes who played last year in our 13th metro Boys competition has made it, helped by the fact she has an amazing left foot. She is also young enough to participate in the 2012 world cup as well. The last of our girls is Tiffany Patterson the striker from our reserve team who having scored 35 odd goals for their reserve team has impressed Dave Edmondson the coach of the U17 and gained selection.

Ex Club Player Tessa Berger who played from the age of 6 till she turned 12 played for Hibiscus. Her move to Epsom girls school in 2007 meant a transfer to Three Kings where she has played premier Women's football in the second best team in the country.
All these girls will be training to gain selection this year in the National women's league and more details will be sent out so that we can attend the games in Auckland and support these top players.
