The Under 16 Gold Coast Stingrays intial training squad was announced yesterday at the completion of a successful club day held at Carrara. All under 16 Gold Coast clubs played a number of matches in scoarching conditions, from these games two combinde sides were selected to play for a chance to impress the coaches to make the squad.
From the match 14 players were selected to join the squad of 27 that have already been training once a week as part of the U16 summer training program. The boys will begin Tuesday night with a 2km time trial and lecture from former Hawthorn Premiership player Brian Douge and a Parent Orientation. The squad will then train Monday and Wednesday nights at Carrara leading up to the State Championships in May.
