2009 U14 Young Stingrays Development Squad Info

It’s that time of year again and for the seventh year running we will be conducting our hugely successful "Skill and Education Day" as the first step in the process of selecting our U14 Young Stingrays Development Squad. This will be held in the Easter school holidays and we are fully aware that some players could be absent due to holidays, but this does not mean that they miss out as there will be further opportunities later in the season.

All Clubs are requested to nominate a maximum of 10 players to attend this year’s selection trial. I would also like for coaches to include your best couple of 13 year olds as part of the 10 nominated players.

The day will include skill and fitness testing, games and an educational session, outlining the processes and requirements of the Gold Coast Stingrays Development Program from U14 to U18 level.

Could all coaches please inform the players that you have nominated of the details of the day and give them a copy of this letter to ensure they attend?

From these 100 players, two squads of 20 to 25 will be selected and will commence training on

I will not be contacting them before the day. It is expected that almost 100 players will be in attendance, which will be the largest ever participation numbers. This will give a broader base of players an awareness and exposure to the Gold Coast Stingrays Development Squad Programs. Monday, April 20, 2009 at Gold Coast Stadium Carrara with a Parent/Player orientation Lecture and an Umpire Course. The final squad of 25 players will then compete for the Gold Coast Region at the State Championships to be held on the Gold Coast from June 29 to July 3, 2009.
