The day started with high hopes that our 3 teams in action could join the U15 & C Grade netball teams on Grand Final day. Unfortunately it wasn't to be.
The U15 footballers started a little slowly and Dunnstown got out of the blocks quickly to race to a 4 goal lead. The boys fought back and more than held their but they couldn't buy a goal and went down by 23 points.
The U13 netballers also were down early but they staged a courageous fight back tie the scores. They were on the verge of scoring when the buzzer went, leaving the scores level and forcing the match into extra time. Unfortunately the girls went down by 5 goals to Bungaree.
0 from 2 and onto the A grade netball against last year’s grand final opponent Dunnstown. In another thrilling, toughly contested match the girls went down by a goal, after leading with about a minute to go. A flag in double extra time and rolled by a point trying to get into the decider. You can't say the girls don't give you your moneys worth.
So onto next week at Learmonth. We still have 2 netball teams to support and just as importantly our A grade netball coach, Leanne Birkett will receive her league best & fairest award. The U15s play Dunnstown at 10.30am and C grade play Bungaree at 12.30pm. Then back to Donnegan's farm to celebrate (or commiserate). See you next Saturday.
