Centrals Scholarship Program
As a club we have agreed to provide two scholarships for Year 7 students at Galvin Park Secondary College for a period of 5 years. Both are mainly sport based but the winners have to also show leadership and commitment to their studies as well with one for Football/Netball and the other for Cricket. Suzie Oliver who is the sports coordinator at Galvin Park Secondary College forwarded the following on this years winners.
Firstly I would like to thank you very much for allowing us the opportunity to offer the scholarships for our College. The two students who received them are very excited.
I have included below the two students who received the awards and brief
information on them for you to use as required.
Andrew Scanlon Cricket. Andrew has been a member of many interschool
sport teams this year such as rugby, basketball, and hockey but it was his
cricket skills for which he won the award. He was the captain of the team
and plays the position of wicket keeper. He is a very motivated,
enthusiastic person who is a natural born leader. Andrew is also a member
of the Werribee Centrals cricket team.
Gavin Uren Football. Although small in stature Gavin is known for his
in-and-under play. Gavin played in the position of rover for school, a
position he also plays in his team at Werribee Centrals. He is hard at the
ball and runs all day. Gavin is also a great leader in the team, leading by
example when training and in games.
Once again and I look forward to the relationship continuing for the next
