Centrals Xmas Message

Centrals Xmas Message

The year is all but over again and as we do we hope all our sponsors, members and supporters are looking forward to having a break with family and friends and hoping for a successful and rewarding year ahead.

2008 has finished with a rush of good news as we completed our five year committment to Wyndham Lodges Building Appeal and started a five year Scholarship program with Galvin Park Secondary College awarding two scholarships to Year 7 students Andrew Scanlon for his Leadership and commitment to the schools Rugby, Hockey, Basketball and Cricket teams this year and also to Gavin Uren who also represented the school in football. We congratulate both these students and thank Peter Newland the Principal at the school for allowing us to participate this year and for the next four years to come.

Also the building works at Galvin Park are well underway with the main rooms well advanced and the slab and all underground works done for the extensions to the North. Things are looking good to have them completed by the start of the winter season as needed. The cricketers are working well around the works and we thank them for the way they have committed to the process.

The new light poles are up giving Oval No 1 enough light for night games and the laying of cable will be done after the Xmas break so these will be completed well before they will be required together with Oval No 2 having light sufficient for Junior training thus giving the main oval some rest during the week in these dry conditions.

We are looking forward to 2009 with a great deal of pride and satisfaction with a new coach, new upgraded facilities and hopefully when the Galvin Park Master Plan is completed Netball Courts so our girls can play at the same venue as the footballers do. We are well advanced in this as well and hope to see these completed prior to the start of the season in April and if not by June at the latest.

We hope to have 12 Junior and 2 Senior football, 3 Junior and 4 Senior Netball next season and to work again with Werribee Centrals Auskick to continue to develop and give as many people as possible a chance to play their chosen sport as did our cricketers this year who now have 12 Junior, 6 senior and over a hundred In2cricket kids.

Not a bad position to be in.

So to everyone who has been a part of Werribee Centrals this year have a

Merry Xmas and a Happy and Safe New Year

see you in 2009
