This SaturdayThe eams Welcome to
Warrnambool Football Netball Club Website 2010
FOOTBALL
First week of finals is over and we still have our teams totally involved in trying to achieve the ultimate victory on Grand Final Day.
The Senior footy team had the week off to train and observe their opposition, South which had a very convincing win against the Bloods. Our boys are well prepared and a win this week can see them take a spot on the big one on September 18.
The Reserves played in the Elimination Final against Port Fairy and in a rough and tough encounter managed to get over the line and move onto next week’s 1st Semi Final. Big Sponge was a very welcome inclusion kicking 5 goals. Liam Sheppard was sensational around the ground.
The U 18s proved too strong for Terang Mortlake and managed a good solid win even though the scores were relatively close with a goal rewarded to the Bloods after the siren had sounded, with a clear mistake being made by the controlling umpire. Nevertheless, the boys were grand in victory even with their main play maker, Colby Rix home in bed. Look out Roosters next week.
NETBALL
Netball girls were not so lucky with only the A grade recording a narrow victory against their opposition, Koroit.
A1 team was narrowly defeated by 1 goal by South and go into next week’s 1st Semi Final ready to turn the tables and have another crack at their opposition. The U17s at least get another crack next week in the 1st Semi Final.
The U13s weren’t quite good enough going down in their elimination final on Sunday.
Good luck to all our teams still involved. No doubt you will do yourselves and the club very proud as you take on your opposition.
