Round 18 - Here we Go

What a day of footy we have programmed on Saturday. We could not end with a better side to play in the last round given the recent history of our two clubs meetings.

We start with the Junior Colts where Willunga is second and will stay there. These young Demons have played very well this season under coach Milford and are a great example of the depth we have in the club.

Creek on top and Demons second in the Senior colts and this game is for top spot. Our boys played very well last week and have hit their strap at the right end of the year. This squad has come back from not playing finals last year to an enviable position thanks to Bucko and his coaching group.

The Creek Reserves are seventh and we are third and as usual there should be a great clash to witness. The Creek did not do to well last week but I am sure they have regrouped for today’s event.

Third meets fifth in the “A” grade but there is not a lot in it this year.

The “A” grade ladder is very interesting because Mt Compass can still make the five if they beat Yankalilla, and that’s on the cards because the game is up the hill at Compass where the home side is tough to beat. There is another little thing that has to happen and Baz will be working on that for us all.

Willunga Football Club Southern Zone Reps

WFC Champions from the Southern Zone Side

Southern Zone did it again this year with the help of four great players from Willunga. These guys did our Club proud.  Brad Haskett and Mitch Portlockk were selected for the State Country Team to play in the Australian Championships in Canberra in the side that our very own Barry Pilmore will coach, and the future looks great for Ben Woolford and Jake Standfield who played admirably in their first year at this level. Congratulations guys.

THEN

At the Australian Country Football Championships held in Canberra last week, South Australia, coached by our very own Barry Pilmore surprised everybody and made it into the Grand Final. Brad Haskett was injured in an early game so we hope he recovers real soon. Mitch Portlock was named in the Australian Side.

Congratulations to the three guys for their great efforts.

BUT

We need your help if we are going to keep churning out champs like this.

We are a tad short on Trainers this year and we are getting to the pointy end of the Season. How about trying out as a Trainer and help keep our guys on the track and field and in great condition. Do you know somebody that might like to help?

We need people to help on training nights and game days and the more trainers we have then the better for all.

Courses will be conducted to make sure that your skills are perfectly in tune with the requirements to keep the Demons on the field.

Come on...Put your hand up and join the proud support team that is so highly regarded in the League.

We may not be the greatest team our club has fielded on the scene,

But we are members of the greatest club there’s been.

We play the game the way we should,

Hard and tough.

We never dream of giving out the dirty stuff

But no one gives the Red and Whites the rub
