King Club 2015
Neil Thompson is running the King Club this year and has come up with a new initiative to get the guys talking at half time in the rooms each week about the footy. The idea is for members to cast votes (3,2,1) on the player they think has had the greatest impact in the first half of the game and has gotten the team off to a flying start. The votes will be tallied up over the year and the player with the most votes will receive the King Club Flyer Trophy. Voting slips will be handed out to members of the King Club on Saturday. The King Club is a support group for the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club. For 2015 members of the King Club have access to the rooms during the senior game half time were they receive food and drinks complimentary during the break; there are raffles to raise further money with joker poker. You become a club member and have free entry into home games and also receive a king club polo. There is also a King Club social event during the year, which includes food and drink. Neil Thompson can be contacted for further Details.neilt101@hotmail.com; mobile: 0400 921 357.

WEFL
The Women of the Eastern Football League (WEFL) is an innovative group of women representing the ladies involved in a range of capacities at Eastern Football League clubs. From presidents, committee members, trainers, players, umpires, canteen attendants, supporters to jumper-washing extraordinaire, women play a crucial role to the running of football clubs. After all, women make up a huge percentage of supporters and participants, and truly are the fabric of our game. Having them around makes clubs a better place. Throughout the last decade, the WEFL has brought together women from all clubs to network, socialise, educate, motivate, inspire and reward. We have enjoyed the work of some magnificent guest speakers, the hospitality of almost all of the EFL’s clubs and guests from across the league. By sharing ideas and experiences, women from across the league have the opportunity to meet like-minded women to discuss all things football –perhaps over a meal and a wine or two – and the issues faced in running community sporting clubs. We also offer support to women who might be interested in joining the committee or taking on a more official capacity at their club. We are not only here to provide support for women in your club, but to build a network of women from across the EFL. After all, it’s always nice to travel to an away game and see a friendly face. Our first function for the season will be a huge celebration of our 10th year. And what a decade it’s been! We’ll be celebrating at Montrose Football Club on Wednesday, May 20. Richmond club president Peggy O’Neal – the AFL’s first and only female club president – will also be joining us so hope you can too. RSVP by May 11 to book your place.
