Today we all got ready to play our game. It was a good morning and we left early and watched a bit of the South Pacific game. They were going strong and were keeping up. They pushed hard and we were supporting them.

The Etobicoke Kangaroos are back on the winning track via an 11 goal performance from Travis McKenzie against the High Park Demons in round 8 action of the Ontario Australian Football League on Friday night. July 6th
Today we got up to a fresh morning, all ready for training. We got to training and Michael got us to do a handball drill with tackling involved. This was to get us comfortable to put our head over the footy and get dirty. This really helped a lot of guys with confidence problems.

Today, as per usual, we went to breakfast at 7:30am however, it was with an ominous feeling, as fitness testing was right after breakfast. Approximately 45 minutes after breakfast all four Canadian boys left for the fitness center with Yuta who works for the AFL and is one of the assistant team mangers.

First morning at the university, we’ve officially met the whole team and we’ve also had our first training session as a team. Apparently it was a ‘light’ training session, which in other words to Aussies would be a normal Canadian training session. After training we had to do a 3.2km (2mile) time trial which was a bundle of fun.

AFL Canada has sent 2 players each from Toronto and Vancouver to Melbourne, Australia to be part of the 30 man squad of the World XVIII that will play in the NAB Cup Australian under 16 State Championships. They will competet in Division 2 against Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, Northern Territory and Pacfic Islands.

After starting the season with 2 losses the Etobicoke Kangaroos have notched their 3rd win in a row with a 29 point victory over the Broadview Hawks in round 5 of the Ontario Australian Football League. Friday night June 4th was a special night as World XVIII team members John Elliott and Riyad Karacic of the Etobicoke Kangaroos A.F.C were each presented with cheques totaling CDN$1250 to help cover the cost of their flights to Australia.

Round 4 of the Ontario Australian Football League season was the start of Friday night football at Humber South home of the Etobicoke Kangaroos. The Roos playing their first night game of the year were up against the Toronto Rebels who were coming into the match with the same record from 3 matches of 1-2 as their Royal Blue and White opponent.

Round three of the season saw the winless Roos take a much improved Hamilton Wildcats team. The Roos were desperate for a win on Saturday and after a very solid week on the training track were primed and ready to go on Saturday morning.The Roos started strongly winning plenty of contested footy through the middle of the ground and finding targets inside their forward 50.

Div 1 Report: The Etobicoke Kangaroos were looking to post a win in round 2 action of the Ontario Australian Football League on Saturday but were faced with the duanting task of traveling West along the 401 to Guelph to do it. The Roos have had the measure of the younger Gargoyles club over the last few years with an 8 game wining streak dating back to 2005 in their favour from 4 years of success.

Division 1 Report: The Etobicoke Kangaroos started their 8th season in the OAFL with a Grand Final rematch from 2009 against the Toronto Eagles. Looking to reverse the result of a GF loss in the seasons opener, an under strength team that was missing numerous players thru injury and other commitmments took the field.

Club juniors Riyad Karacic and Jono Elliott have both been selected by the AFL to travel to Australia to play in the World XVIII under 18 team. The World XVIII team is entered in the NAB Australian under 16 state carnival and will play in Division 2 against teams from New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory, Tasmania and the Pacific.

With warm temperatures in April comes the unusal step of taking training outdoors. The club coach Steve Curran has advised that starting this week with Monday/Thursday training will take place at 6.30pm on the grass area just east of the clubs home ground at Humber College South. For new players this is located in the Kipling/Lakeshore areas of South Etobicoke.
