Diamonds Girls Flying High !
The North East Diamonds Girls Squads have started the 2012 season is style across all age groups. Currently our U13, U15 & U17 Girls teams are all undefeated in their respective groups.
Although results are one thing, it has been really encouraging to see the high level of technical and tactical awareness displayed by all of our girls squads. The North East Zone has always been a strong breeding ground for talented female players and this years crop of VCL players are no exception.
U15 Girls Coach Bill Mihaloudis is very happy with his group of players and the way they have come together as a playing group.
"It's really exciting to watch them play, they have a great understanding between each other even at this early stage of the season, said Mihaloudis."
"What is even more encouraging is that we have selected a fairly young group of girls this year with the majority of our players being bottom age. The fact that they are holding their own against older opponents and finding solutions when under pressure is a real indicator that the National Curriculum is really kicking in."
This week North East Diamonds take on Rivers FC at Darebin and we are looking forward to hosting our regional neighbours.
