In a top of the table clash South Perth proved to be too good for Fremantle with a 50-6 win at Members Equity Stadium on Saturday night. Earlier in the day Reserve grade played out a draw at Ken Allen Field.

South Perth Lions put on a record score when they demolished the Willagee Bears 118-4, scoring twenty one tries in the process. The reserve grade team were also convincing winners outclassing Willagee 78-8.

LIONS TOO GOOD FOR BULLDOGS
A dominant first half performance set up a convincing 50-20 victory for South Perth over the Kalamunda Canning Bulldogs on Saturday, with Reserve grade also getting up 44-18.

LIONS HOLD OFF GALLANT GIANTS
The South Perth Lions produced a solid display to hold out a valiant Joondalup outfit 26-18 in a good quality match. The Lions Reserve grade side rejoined the winners circle with 32-28 victory in yet another close game for them.

TITANS NO MATCH FOR LIONS
The Lions first grade side continued on their winning ways defeating the Goldfields Titans 64-24 in wet conditions on Saturday. Reserve grade were not so fortunate losing their first game of the season 20-24 to the South-West Warriors, who have enough talent to show they will be a real force in their first season.

SOUTH PERTH KNOCK OVER NORTH BEACH
A good day for the club up at Charles Riley against North Beach. Both clubs enjoy a healthy rivalry and the games are usually high quality and competitive - this weekend was no exception.
The Women’s league tag got beaten 10 – 14 in the last few minutes, but still a very creditable performance against a side that played in last year’s finals.
LIONS SHUTOUT SHARKS
South Perth continued their strong start to the 2010 season with a 50-0 shutout against the Rockingham Sharks at home on Saturday. The team’s defensive effort was the most pleasing aspect for coach Cory Bush with the Lions able to hold out the Sharks for the full eighty minutes.

2010 COACHING APPOINTMENTS
Cory Bush has been appointed as First Grade Coach for 2010.
Previously a club reserve grade coach, first grade manager and assistant coach in premiership teams and the winning first grade premiership caretaker coach in 2006 and assistant state coach and manager last 3 years.

LIONS CLAIM BACK TO BACK PREMIERSHIPS IN A THRILLER
A Paul Sheedy field goal in the final minute of the game was all that separated the Lions from the Bulldogs in the most exciting WARL grand final seen in a number of years.
With First grade’s 23-22 and Reserve grade’s 26-14 victories, South Perth claimed back to back premierships in both grades.
