The Ipswich Rugby League Referees Association is a dedicated group of League lovers who devote their spare time to refereeing rugby league games in the Ipswich and surrounding districts. Overviewed by the Southern Division, the IRLRA has excellent training and education programs to assist the most inexperienced referee reach their full potential.

The Ipswich Rugby League Referees Association has a rich tradition. It has developed not only fine referees for our proud local competition but has also had referees control games at all level. It is the goal of the association to not only develope a referees on feild ability but also help equip them to meet all challangers in their life

The IRLRA meets regularly in a formal setting at the Ipswich RSL, and constantly updates it's members in legislation, match allocations, and direction. The IRLRA Executive includes the Appointment Board, Junior Executive, and IRL Liaison.

Several guest lecturers are in regular attendance to IRLRA sanctioned events, such as Richie Johnson (Queensland Referees supervisor), Tim Mander (NRL Referee) and Eddie Ward (ex-NRL referee).

The IRLRA Executive is committed to service of it's members, and the positive development of refereeing and Rugby League in the Ipswich District.


The Ipswich Rugby League is a fertile ground to learn the art of refereeing, and a true challenge for any sports minded person to attempt.
