SOUTH YARRA RESERVES LOSE IN PRELIMINARY FINAL

Logo

The South Yarra Reserves lost their preliminary final to Oakleigh Districts to finish their finals campaign for 2011. Another bout of the yips in front if goal in the opening term did not help when we booted just 2-6 with the strong wind to lead by 12 pts at 1/4 time. The boys battled well against the wind in the 2nd quarter to stay within 8pts at half time and five goals to one in the third gave us a 16 pt. lead at the final break but with the wind strengthening, it was going to be a tough assignment. The Districts got a couple of very early last quarter goals to gain the ascendancy and finished up going on to win by 37 pts. Still a great effort by Bernard Brady and his South Yarra F.C. Reserves team to get to the last three after the horrendous start to the year when we were 0-4 after round 4.
