AFL DRAFT UPDATE - TRENT MCKENZIE & JAYDEN POST
Congratulations to former Altona Junior Football Club player Trent McKenzie who was recently signed by the AFL`s newest team Gold Coast Football Club. Trent moves to the Gold Coast next month to join his new team mates for his first AFL pre-season training so we wish you good luck and from all of us here at the Altona Junior FC, we hope that this is the start of a long and successful AFL career. Well done Trent.
Jayden Post has completed his first AFL season where he played seven games for Richmond FC which is a fantastic achievement in his first year of AFL football. We are not sure if it was Jaydens influence or it is purely coincidental, but since he has joined the Tigers their coach has been sacked along with a number of their senior players so keep up the good work Posty.
We managed to get both Trent and Jayden to the club for a photo session with their AFL jumpers (pictured right). Thanks guys and good luck to you both next season.
ALTONA JUNIOR FC COMMITTEE FOR THE 2010 SEASON
The following committee for the 2010 season was voted in at the Altona Junior FC AGM which was held on the 8th October 2009. It is great to see a number of new members put their hands up to join next seasons committee and it is always a sign that things are going well when committee members from the previous year seek re-election again. Thanks everyone for joining the committee because without you there would be no Altona Junior FC.
President - Paul Robinson
Vice President - Barry Harrison
Administrator - Maryanne Fiorini
Registrar - Leanne Garner
Treasurer - David Appleby
General Committee: Andrew McLean, Peter Lucas.
The Altona Junior FC would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our outgoing committee members for all their work last season. A special thanks to all those who had all been on the committee for a number of years and were all wonderful contributors. You have all helped to put our club in the healthy position that it is today and you will all be sadly missed.
ALTONA U14A TEAM ARE 2009 PREMIERS!!!!!
Congratulations to our sensational U14A team who beat the odds (and Werribee) who were undeafeted for the season, to bring home the premiership cup. In what can only be described as apalling conditions, our boys followed coach Dean Gilberts instructions to the letter in particular in the final term when the team was defending a 4 goal lead but against a 6 goal wind.
Micthell Norton won the medal for his Best on Ground performance. Well done to Dean and the boys.
JAYDEN POST MAKES THE AFL GRADE
Congratulations to former Altona Junior FC player Jayden Post who made his AFL debut with the Richmond Football Club recently.
Jayden has made many sacrifices in recent years in the pursuit of his dream of becoming an AFL footballer and to finally realise this dream is a testament of his discipline and his dedication to the game.
The Altona Junior Football Club would like to wish Jayden all the best as he starts what we hope is a long and successful AFL career. Well done Posty! .
ALTONA JUNIOR FC LEADERSHIP FORUM
The Altona Junior Football Club`s Leadership Forum was held on Thursday 28th May and it was another successful event. This Junior Forum is such an important night on our clubs annual calendar and we would like to sincerely thank our clubs Vice President Col Davies for organising the night and for his vision in seeing the importance of promoting leadership to our clubs future leaders.
A special thanks to the guest speakers on the night who included Brendan Curry the General Manager of the Williamstown Football Club, former Altona Junior footballer and now Richmond player Jayden Post, Williamstown senior player and former Collingwood player Jason Cloke, Altona Primary School Principal Keven Enright, Altona Football Club senior Vice Captain Brett Shiels, Altona FC U16A Coach John Szanyi and last but certainly not least our club`s U16a Captain Deacon Millward who were all fantastic on the night.

JAYDEN POST IS A TIGER
Former Altona Junior FC player Jayden Post`s dream of playing AFL football became a reality when he was selected at No. 26 by Richmond in the AFL national draft.
This caps off a remarkable year for Jayden who won the Barry Round Medal as the Western Jets best and fairest and he led the TAC Cup competition in both Uncontested and Contested marks and was a key factor in several come from behind performances by the Jets. Jayden finished the season with a sensational final display against the Dandenong Stingrays where he started at centre half back and had a stint in the ruck before spending the last quarter in the forward line, and finished with 35 disposals, 15 Marks and kicked 2.2. The AFL recruiters were always going to look at Jayden after this performance.
The Altona Junior Football Club would like to wish Jayden all the best as he embarks on his dream of becoming an AFL footballer. Well done Posty!
