Matt Shir set to join Hornets Matt Shir, the player regarded as one of the best to ever wear the Wodonga Bulldogs jersey has agreed to terms with the Hornets for the next two seasons.
Originally from Benalla, Shir was drafted to Adelaide Crows in 1999 and remained there until 2002.
After leaving Adelaide, he was drafted to Richmond for the 2003 season.
Matt then made the move to Wodonga where he has spent the last 6 years.
Matt is a triple Best & Fairest winner and premiership player from 2004 who has also represented the O & M on many occasions. Matt was also awarded the "Did Simpson" medal for his best afield performance in the 2004 Grand Final.
Matt will be a great acquisition to the Hornets and the coaching staff.
He will relocate with partner Anna and both are looking forward to living in SE Queensland, more -->

Myles Aalbers heading North The Aalbers name is very well known around the border of NSW and Victoria as there has been a long line of family members who have represented the Lavington Football Club in the Ovens & Murray competition.
The Hornets will add the Aalbers name to their list by securing Myles on a two year contract. Myles represented the O & M last year and led the goal kicking for Lavingtom as a Half Forward /Wingman. At 22 Myles has 70 senior games under his belt and will be a terrific addition to the new look Aspley line up. more -->

Carpenter joins growing list Sam Carpenter is regarded by some as the best mid fielder in the strong Ovens & Murray league in country Victoria The Corowa-Rutherglen star has signed a 2 year deal with Aspley and will relocate early February.
Formerly from Hastings, Victoria, Sam played for the TAC Cup side Dandenong Stingrays, where he debuted in 2004 before moving to country Victoria. more -->
Mansfield stars to call Aspley home Two of the Goulburn Valley League's Premiership team Mansfield, will be lining up with the Hornets next year.
Dan Roy, & Jamie Sheehan have signed two year deals with the Hornets and join the growing list of quality additions.
Dan is a very quick and fit utility player whilst Jamie is a forward who is often used through the mid field.
Former Mansfield defender and Geelong Football League representative player Matt Trewhella will also join the Hornets shortly.

Bryce Carroll signs with Hornets The 2009 Essendon Rookie is set to join the group on the 26th January after signing with Aspley for the 2010 season.
Bryce is highly regarded at Essendon and after being de-listed spent six weeks training with Geelong.
Bryce is a gifted player who is super fit and is looking forward to re entering the AFL in 2011. more -->

Accommodation for possible recruits With recruiting for the 2010 season in full swing, we will at some stage have the opportunity to recruit players from interstate or even PNG.
Because of this, finding accommodation for players is always difficult so we would love to hear from anyone who has the room available to take on a recruit for either long or short term.
