UNDERS 16'S PRELIMINARY FINAL SUNDAY 5TH SEPT Despite a narrow loss in their first semi final, by virtue of finishing minor premiers our Under 16's get a second chance this weekend. They play their preliminary final this Sunday 5th September at 2.15pm at the Sherwood Football Club. Let's get as many of the "Green & White Army" as we can along to support them. FERNY GROVE SUCCESS AT AFLBJ GALA AWARDS Congratulations to Joseph Russon and Luke Penberthy on taking out the AFLBJ Best & Fairest awards in their respective divisions. Joseph won for the U16 AFLBJ Cup (Div 2) and Luke for U14 Div 2. These awards are based on umpires votes. The Ferny Grove Club also finished 4th in the Club Championship, which is based on percentage of games won across all youth football teams. more -->
LUKE PENBERTHY NAMED IN TAIPANS ALL STAR TEAM Congratulations to Luke Penberthy, on being named in the Western Taipans 2010 All Star Team. This team is selected from all Western Taipans teams, ie U18, U16 & U14. Luke's achievement being even more impressive because he is still actually only 13. Well done Luke. more -->
CHRIS PATERSON WINS AWARD AT ASPLEY U18'S Congratulations to former Ferny Grove junior, and now Aspley U18 Div 1 player, Chris "The Stig" Paterson, on taking out the Most Determined award at the recent Aspley U18 presentation night. Chris was in his first year of U18 football. more -->

MORE REP HONOURS FOR FERNY GROVE Congratulations to U14 players Matt Doyle, Locky Marsland, & Luke Penberthy who have been selected in the Western Taipans U14 team, and James Lingard in the Northern Raiders team, who will compete at next week's state carnival at Maroochydore. CONGRATULATIONS JIMMY MCMAHON 100 SENIOR GAMES The Ferny Grove footy club congratulates former junior Jimmy McMahon on playing his 100th senior game for Wilston Grange last weekend. A regular in Wilston Grange's best players, Jimmy is currently sitting 2nd on the Bill Ryan Trophy votes, only 1 point off the lead. Although the game's result will not be a memorable one, at only 23 years of age Jimmy will achieve many more milestones. Well done. more -->

CONGRATULATIONS MET NORTH UNDER 12 SCHOOLBOYS Congratulations to all the boys who tried out for the Met North Under 12 schoolboys team. In particular Jarrod Clarke and Mitch Farley who were named in the 23 man team, and Josh Reid and Casey Barber who were selected as emergencies. STEVE PICKERING APPOINTED KICKING TECHNIQUE COACH TO STATE TEAMS Former Southport premiership player David Ashkar and ex-Brisbane Bear Ray Windsor will again be in charge of the State under 16 & 18 teams in 2010. Respected former Ferny Grove coach Steve Pickering will assist both outfit as kicking technique coach, while ex-Morningside star Brad Edwards will be the ruck coach for the Under 16s, who have Chris Halsall overseeing their fitness. FALCON FLIES NORTH FOR WINTER Former Ferny Grove junior, Shaun Tapp, will be moving to Darwin to play for the Northern Territory Thunder in the 2010 QAFL State League. LUKE PENBERTHY NAMED CAPTAIN QLD BLAZE Congratulations to Luke Penberthy, who was last night named captain of the Under 12 Qld Blaze State Team. Luke will be playing at the national carnival at Maroochdore which commences this Sunday 26th July, and runs all next week finishing on Saturday 1st August. Good luck Luke. Under 14 State Carnival Premiers
TAIPANS DOMINATE STATE CARNIVAL Congratulations to The Western Taipans Under 14 team, in particular the 5 Ferny Grove players, Mitch Swetman, Eden Richards, Matt Tydink, Jordan Streigher, & Bill Pendlebury. The Taipans completely dominated the carnival, winning the Grand Final by 9 goals (Bill kicked 8 for the game). But more importantly they only conceded 7 goals for the whole carnival. SHAUN TAPP WINS SAM GILBERT MEDAL Former Ferny Grove Junior, Shaun Tapp confirmed his reputation as one of the best backmen in the QAFL by winning the Sam Gilbert Medal in Melbourne today.
Tapp, 20, dominated the Victorian Amateur Under 21s to win the medal named in honour of a man who has gone on to become a star with St Kilda in the AFL after impressing on the same stage as Tapp. more -->
