Australia beats Vanuatu 2-0

The Young Socceroos have staved off a valiant challenge from the Vanuatu U-20 team to win 2-0 at Korman Stadium, Port Vila today.
Australia scored two goals through captain Scott McDonald and Carl Valeri to lead 2-0 at half-time. Vanuatu battled hard in the second half, but the Australians held strong in front of a vocal crowd, estimated at 5,000.
The match was played in fine, hot and humid weather conditions. Full match report to follow.
Australia next plays Papua New Guinea in round 2 of Group A on Monday 9 December at 2;30pm (local time).
