It was calling all RANGERS! and back in the net for an inline hockey game lastnight. First time in 3 years since I've been in goal, and first time back at the rink since June of this year: a 3-2 win for my side. Yes, those old flashes of brilliance had shown but I have to give a lot of credit to my defence and the speed of the transition game which was really working.
Many of you may be wondering what inline hockey is...it's a game similar to ice hockey but played on a sport court surface on inline skates (roller blades) instead of ice. Now if you are wondering about the ice game (I've played that, too) go to: www.nhl.com and find out more about the game. Perhaps you've seen a game or two from the Winter Olympics; that may give you some idea. Let me not fool anyone here. The quality of our play is FAR below those standards but there is nothing like the spirit of competition and knowing that when the better years of athleticism have passed you by you can still bang it and have a great time!
Cheers to all you old farts out there!
