Game by Game
Spain 85 dft New Zealand 62
After a poor start on Saturday, the Spanish got their first win of the tournament with a dominant first quarter and a strong finish. Isabel Sanchez finished with 19 points and Anna Montanana had 18 as Spain shot well from the field throughout the game. New Zealand without the staff to fight back - only Jillian Harmon making a strong impression with 22 points and five rebounds.

Czech Republic 81 dft Mali 47
A crushing win for the Czech Republic over Mali after the African champions could manage only 4 points in the opening term. Machova, Elhotova and Vesela all managed double figures but with the game well and truly in control by half time, the Czech team rested many of their stars and provided great tournament experience for their bench. Mali's Djenebou Sissoko was wonderful in a losing side, making 9 of 12 field goals for 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Russia 77 dft Korea 72
An exciting game with the lead swaying back and forward in the last period before the Russians held out for the win. Seven times the sides exchanged the lead in the last stanza but Russia was cooler under pressure. Bekky Harmon iced a pair of three throws in the last minute before Irina Ospipva blocked a Korean shot allowing another Russian possession and two more free throws and the five point margin. Russia committed 23 turnovers to 12, and were fortunate to come away with the win.

Belarus 79 dft Latvia 57
A strong finish to this game by Belarus extended the margin and gave them their first win of the tournament. 22 points from Yelena Leuchanka and 17 from Tatyana Troina were too much for Latvia to handle. The other thing Latvia struggled to handle was the ball - they conceded 25 turnovers to just 14 for Belarus.

USA 108 dft China 63
Just like the night before the USA dominated China, this time in women's competition. Unlike their previous Game, China went long here with 16 three point attempts but connected on just four while USA went 5 of 10 from beyond the arc and made over 50% of their shots overall. TIna Thompson's 27 points is the highest score of the women's tournament to date while veteran Lisa Leslie secured a 10 point, 10 rebounds double.

Australia 80 dft Brazil 65
The world champions met another challenge and dismissed it as they surged to this 15 point win despite a strong third period from the Brazillians. Trailing 29-50 at half time Brazil responded with a 20-11 third term to bring the margin back to 12 but the Australians steadied to come home comfortable winners. Kelly Santos as expected a star for Brazil with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Laura Summerton was a surprise top scorer for the Aussies with 18.

The Best of the Boxscores
Russia handed over plenty of turnovers in their game against Korea with 23, but got the ball back the with the most dominant rebounding display of the day. The Russians secured 32 rebounds to just 12, starving their Asian opponents of the ball, particuarly at the offensive end, where Korea secured just 2 offensive rebounds for the game.
Something to watch for
After two days of competition only one player, the USA's Sylvia Fowles, is averaging a double - double. Fowles has 34 points and 22 rebounds across two games. Given the depth of Team USA, it will be interesting to see if Fowles can maintain the pace. Interestingly, team veteran Lisa Leslie also appears in the leading rebounds list. Leslie has 20 boards for the tournament, placed third currently after Fowles and Brazil's Nascimento, who has played just one game for a 12 rebound return.
Looking Ahead
Our pick of the day for Day 4 are the games between Croatia and Russia and Germany vs Greece. Our tips....Lithuania, Croatia, Greece, Spain, USA and Argentina. Make sure you tip as well.
