Tigers should no get pick

Tigers should no get pick

I along with many other AFL fans would love to see one of the leagues best players Ben Cousins back on the park in 2009. But I don't think he should be allowed down at tiger land the way the rules are set up. At the moment the tigers have locked in pick 6 with a mature age rookie that they have to take.

Therefore there only chance of getting cousins would be if the commission changes the rules to allow Graeme Polak to go on the rookie list. I think such a decision would be farcical as the Polak situation is poles apart from Adam Ramanauskaus.

The main point of difference being that Rama was out of contract when the bombers took the case to the AFL, they wanted him to be able to stay on the list in some capacity rather than delisting him and re-drafting him down the track. For the tigers to try this on a contracted player would like another club trying to do the same thing for a player who will miss a year with a knee reconstruction.

I dont see the difference with Rama.
Both are/were out indefinitely, unlike a knee which is a known time frame. The Tigers could be heartless and delist him and pay out contract but are trying to do the right thing by Polak. This has only been done at Polak's suggestion.

This should not be seen as having anything to do with Ben Cousins. Richmond have not said that they will draft him, they could just pick up an extra player thats all. It makes no difference what order they pick the players up in as they will have pick 6 and 7 anyway.

What's that I hear Azza?
A slightly jealous Essendon supporter who wishes his team had a chance of securing cousins perhaps?

I say let the guy play! It could be the feel good story of the season and by God don't Richmond deserve at least one of them this decade!

And if he does crash and burn then consider yourself lucky to have been handed even more ammo to unleash on the Tigerland army.

So don't begrudge Cousins, or the strategists at Richmond, their one chance to redeem themsleves after so many mistakes.
Be a sport Azzam and jump aboard the Cousins tram (too early for jokes?).
