Arecibo loses again in Amsterdam:
AMSTERDAM - Capitanes de Arecibo (Puerto Rico) fell to Netherlands 90-69 to have a 0-2 record at the Haarlem Basketball Week played in Amsterdam.
Arecibo started the game by winning the first quarter 23-16. The team coached by David Rosario was losing their consistency in the offensive side as their only scorer was Angel Figueroa who netted 21 points. Their second best scorer was guard Eric Rodriguez who scored 10 points.
The first half finished 42-39 in favor of the Puerto Rican team that shot 12-26 from two points, 3-7 from three and 9-15 from the free throw line.
In the second half the representation of the Netherlands took control and with an excellent defensive effort held Capitanes to just 27 points in the final 20 minutes.
In the win Peter van Paassen scored 24 points, Robert Krabbendam 14 and Arvin Slagter 13.
The next game for Capitanes (0-2) is on December 27 against EiffelTowers. Meanwhile Minas Tenis Clube play the same team (EiffelTowers) on December 26.
