Back from the USA and raring to go!

I had a great time catching up with my family and friends in Dallas. Everyone was in town for my Grandmother's 90th birthday. There were cousins I hadn't seen in years and other cousins that have been born recently and that I hadn't seen before.
It's not even been a month since the Lightning played Sydney Uni in the last round of 2008, but with my trip back home in between it feels a lot longer. It was great to end the season on a high with a convincing win.
We started training on 5 January, but our first game isn't until Friday 16 when we play Townsville Fire. The break has been good, but to be honest, I'd rather get straight back into playing again.
Our first game of 2009 is a huge one for us. Townsville have Rohanee Cox, who is a great player as well as a lot of other quality players.
It is a bit strange that we're facing them for the first time this season so far into it. We don't know exactly what to expect, but it is always a tough game against Townsville.
The game is at Distinctive Homes Dome here in Adelaide, so we're hoping to use the home ground to our advantage.
Since we've come back from the holidays, we've been training extra hard - more than we usually would during the season. We played against a men’s team last Sunday and even though they're bigger and stronger than us, we still played very well.
You never know who's going to star on any given night with the Link Lightening, we've had so many great contributors this year, right down the playing list, so I think we're very well placed for the back half of the season.
I hope to see you at a Link Lightening game in 2009!
