We did it! The Canberra Capitals are WNBL Champions!

It wasn't the most elegant of games the Capitals have played in recent times, but it's such an unbelievable feeling to know that you're now officially the best team in the WNBL.
The match was a good, hard-fought contest, due to the tenacity of the Bulleen Boomers. For a team that's never played in a Grand Final before their performance was awesome.
To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed with my own performance in the Grand Final, I couldn't hit a shot. That said, I was pleased that I managed to work my way into the game with a few important rebounds.
It's not really that important thoug - we got the result that we wanted and that's all that matters in the end.
Michelle Musselwhite had a great game. She's not had a lot of court time recently, due to her foot injury, so it was great to see her top scoring. Nat Hurst was a deserving Grand Final MVP as well.
After we the match, we went down to the ACT Brumby's Super 14 match against the NSW Waratahs at the Canberra Stadium and did a lap of honour in front of 20,000 people. The crowd there gave us a fantastic reception.
After that we all got together with our friends and family at a cafe for a while, then the fans came along too which was a great way to celebrate.
The Capitals fans have given us so much support, not just at the Grand Final but throughout the WNBL season. After that we hit the town and celebrated well into Saturday morning.
Being named the Capitals' Most Valuable Player was a great way to top off a fantastic season. With so many other extremely valuable players in the line up this year, especially Nat Hurst (who won the Players' Player Award), I was lucky to have been given the award and that makes it even more special.
It's actually a little bit sad here in Canberra now. The party is over and most of the players have gone. In particular, my housemate, Marianna Tolo, has left. It was really sad saying goodbye to her.
Thanks to all the Canberra Capitals fans and everyone here on myFiba for your support through the 2008/09 season.
