"Lawn Bowls in India"

Hi Australia,

Im all the way over here in sunny New Delhi working my way towards a Gold Medal at the inaugural 8 nations test event. Everything is going to plan so far, i have just defeated South Africa in the Semi final (9-8, 8-7) to make the gold medal play off. Thats the good news, bad news is the 2 time Commonwealth Games gold medalist Siti Zalina of Malaysia is whats stands between me and that gold medal i want so dearly! I'll be giving it my best shot and so will Australia's other 3 teams playing for gold tonight aswell. Its fair to say, however the results fall, Australia has done a terrific job and there shall be some celebrations taking place tonight. "Aussie Aussie Aussie"

This trip has been a once in a life time experience and a great warm up event for the Commonwealth Games. The greens and conditions are nothing like what we would find back in Australia. The average temperature hovered around 40 degrees and the surface itself was around 50 degrees. Though we have been playing on carpet, the speed of the greens have been quite slow and the greens are covered in dust. The players that retain their spots for the Commonwealth games in October, will have a sure advantage over many other competitiors. We are very priviallged to have been given this amazing opportunity. How many bowlers in Australia can say they have played lawn bowls in India?

This trip hasnt all been about the bowls, we have ventured away from the greens and seen more of this hectic city. It sure aint anything like Sydney, and the curries are mighty hot!! There is no way I would want to drive in the Delhi traffic, there doesnt appear to be many road rules. Not to mention you would have to dodge the cows in the middle of the road!

It's about time for me to get ready for the big game. I'll have to stick with tradition and get some music pumping in my room, and that wont be any traditional Indian music. We've heard our fair share of that!

Comon' Aussies, 4 Gold medals and a bronze to be won tonight! Wish us luck:)

JOEY
