I watched this amazing documentary this week. Three indigenous kids make the journey from local clubs to National U16's in 2006. One of the kids, Chris Yarran, gets drafted by Carlton. The other two crash and burn.
Watching our three goal win tonight against Tigers, I couldn't help see some stories of our own. Isaac, Henry and Robert keep going week after week. Ralph, Derek and Solomon Fauid showed glimpses of amazing talent. Solomon Blanket and Shaquille Clark were both brilliant in their first games for us.
And then, Tyson walks into the clubrooms.
We have so many amazing stories of our own. So many, we could make our own documentary. Series, probably.
Our team story, though, keeps adding chapters. Almost half way and we are five and three, four games clear inside the four. Hopefully, now, our self belief is improving, the list is more solid and we have put the rocky times behind us.
Next week we play the league leaders. It will be interesting to see if we have bridged the gap on them, since they beat us by plenty last time.
If we have, we may have a lot of kids dreaming by next weekend.
Maybe I will, too.
