Mayweather Retires Undefeated.

Mayweather Retires Undefeated.
Widely considered boxing's best pound-for-pound fighter, Meayweather retires unbeaten with a record of 39-0. The 31-year-old's final bout was in Las Vegas last December when he knocked out Britain's Ricky Hatton to retain his WBC welterweight crown. Mayweather's retirement is a blow for Manchester's Hatton, who had been targeting a rematch with the five-weight world champion in 2009. In May last year, Mayweather said he would quit boxing after beating Oscar de la Hoya in Las Vegas to claim the WBC light-middleweight title. He changed his mind and was expected to meet fellow American De la Hoya in a rematch on 20 September.

This is my opinion of the Pound For Pound world rankings. If you disagree id love to no your opinion.

1. Floyd Mayweather - Welterweight
United States (39 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws, 24KOs)
Mayweather outgunned Ricky Hatton in every department to re-assert his right to the top spot. He must surely now stand comparison to the greatest lower-middle weight fighters in history.

Manny Pacquiao
2. Manny Pacquiao - Super-featherweight
Philippines (46-3-2, 35KOs)
The all-action Pacquiao pipped Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez in March to claim the WBC super-featherweight crown and faces WBC lightweight champion David Diaz in June.

Joe Calzaghe
3. Joe Calzaghe - Super-middleweight
Wales (45-0, 32KOs)
Calzaghe outpointed Bernard Hopkins on his US and light-heavyweight debut to remain undefeated and may now fight the great Roy Jones Jr later this year.

Miguel Angel Cotto
4. Miguel Cotto - Welterweight
Puerto Rico (32-0, 26KOs)
Former light-welterweight world champion and current WBA welterweight title-holder Cotto demolished Alfonso Gomez and will now face IBF title-holder Antonio Margarito in July.

Juan Manuel Marquez
5. Juan Manuel Marquez - Super-featherweight
Mexico (48-4-1, 35KOs)
Lost his WBC super-featherweight title in his rematch with Manny Pacquiao, but remains one of the sport's most canny operators at the age of 34.

Israel Vazquez
6. Israel Vazquez - Super-bantamweight
Mexico (43-4, 31KOs)
Vazquez reclaimed his WBC belt from Rafael Marquez in August and nicked the rubber match in March. A relentless fighter with a vicious left hook.

Winky Wright
7. Winky Wright - Light-heavyweight
United States (51-4-1, 25KOs)
Wright dropped a unanimous decision to Bernard Hopkins in July, his first loss in seven years, although many thought it was far closer than that.

Danny Green Retires!!

Danny Green Retires!!
The WBA light-heavyweight world champion tearfully confirmed he was quitting the sport, saying he wants to get out of the fight game to protect himself and his family. But the decision is still surprising, considering Green himself believes his boxing career and ability is still at its peak. “I woke up Sunday morning with my stomach churning and it was telling me to hang up the gloves basically. It was a strange feeling but I couldn’t do much about it,” the two-time world champion said. “I believe I’m at the top of my game and I’m at the peak of my career as a professional fighter. “Physically I’m at the best shape of my life and mentally I’m still as hungry as ever, and my performance in training at Saturday would suggest I’m hitting the peak of my boxing ability, which makes this decision so much harder.” The sudden retirement means Green will also miss out on what was certain to be a lucrative re-match with high profile rival Anthony Mundine. Green’s first bout with ‘The Man’ was the highest grossing fight in Australian boxing history. But instead a tearful Green said it was time to step out of the ring, paying tribute to the fans that supported him throughout his career. “I’ve been boxing for 16 years, I’ve given my heart and soul to this sport… and boxing and given me so much back,” he said. “To my supporters, you don’t know how good a feeling you guys gave me every time I entered the boxing ring. My fights were for you, and for myself.” After first coming to public prominence at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Green turned professional in 2001, winning his first 16 fights before suffering a controversial fifth round disqualification loss to Germany's Markus Beyer in a WBC world title challenge in August 2003 in Nuremberg. Green won the WBC interim super middleweight belt with a sixth round stoppage of Canadian Eric Lucas in Canada four months later. He suffered a second loss to Beyer in March 2005, dropping a majority points decision in Zwickau. Green subsequently severed ties with his trainer and former triple world champion Jeff Fenech and hired Cuban trainer Ismael Salas. His long-awaited domestic clash with Mundine finally eventuated in May 2006 when he suffered a unanimous points loss in a bout at Sydney's Aussie Stadium attended by around 30,000 spectators. Green then decided to move up to the light heavyweight division and scored inside-the-distance wins over Jason DeLisle, Paul Murdoch and Otis Griffin, before getting a world title crack at Stipe Drews. The Australian totally dominated the bout against a surprisingly passive opponent, achieving his world title dream by earning three lopsided scores on the judges' cards.

Hopkins Vs Calzaghe

Hopkins Vs Calzaghe
Joe Calzaghe has been warned he "better be willing to die" by Bernard Hopkins ahead of their 19 April light-heavyweight contest in Las Vegas.

Hopkins repeatedly said the phrase to Calzaghe when the two men staged the traditional face off following a press conference on Tuesday.

"I feel in an executioner mood," said Hopkins, who addressed the media wearing a black hood.

"I am going to punish him and punish him slowly."

Undisputed super-middleweight champion Calzaghe, 35, is unbeaten in 44 professional fights.

He laughed off the episode, as he had done before Christmas when Hopkins, 43, Ring Magazine's light-heavyweight champion, claimed during a previous confrontation that he would "never lose to a white boy".

"He's doing what he has to do to psyche himself up," said Calzaghe. "I'm enjoying it. This is a new phase for me, my first fight in the States.

"I came to watch the Ricky Hatton fight against Floyd Mayweather and saw the support he had and that's the only thing missing from my career, a big name, someone like Hopkins and all the bull that surrounds it.

"He can be the bad guy now but I'm going to be the bad guy come 19 April.

"I've been through all this before. I've been undefeated 17 years so nothing intimidates me."

South Korean boxer dies after a fight.
Former WBC light flyweight champion Choi Yo-sam has died after collapsing during a fight on Christmas Day.

The South Korean had been defending his WBO intercontinental flyweight title against Indonesia's Heri Amol, who floored Choi at the end of round 12.

Choi returned to his feet and won the bout on points, but was rushed to hospital when he collapsed soon after.

The 33-year-old had suffered cerebral haemorrhage and was pronounced "brain dead" by hospital officials in Seoul.

Choi won the WBC light flyweight title in 1999 with a points win over Thailand's Saman Sorjaturong.

Danny Green World LH Title holder!!!

Danny Green World LH Title holder!!!
DANNY Green became light heavyweight champion of the world in Perth last night in one of the easiest fights of his career. Green overpowered a tentative, reluctant and at times terrified WBA champ Stipe Drews of Croatia who danced, wrestled shimmied, whinged and backpedalled all night before surrendering his world crown meekly to the power puncher from Perth. The only thing Drews didn't do was throw punches. In fact, Japanese referee Takeshi Shimakawa probably threw more blows than Drews as he constantly demonstrated to the world champ that he was supposed to be throwing punches against Green. The crowd booed during the last half of the fight as it became obvious Drews was just trying to survive. The 196cm world champ, who stood 14cm taller than Green and had a reach big enough to throw punches from an adjoining suburb, instead refused to engage in combat with Green after sampling the Australian's power early. In front of a vocal hometown crowd of 5500 at Perth's Challenge Stadium, including his pregnant wife Nina who was due to give birth yesterday, Green stamped his authority on the bout in round one, shaking Drews with a big left hook and right hand. From that moment Drews went into a defensive shell from which he never really emerged. He wrestled and grappled with Green every time the Australian connected and in round three both men fell out of the ring in a tangle of arms and legs. But Green, looking much stronger at the 79.5kg light-heavyweight limit than he was at 76kg when he lost last year to super-middleweight Anthony Mundine, kept Drews under constant pressure. Drews never really got off the back foot as he concentrated on avoiding Green's big punches rather than throw anything of his own. In the end, American judge Levin Martinez scored the bout accurately 120-108, giving Green every round. His countryman Tom Miller and Frenchman Jean-Louis Legland both somehow saw Drews winning two of the 12 rounds, scoring 118-111 and 118-110. For Green, who had previously held the Interim WBC super-middleweight title, the victory was his first official world crown. His record improves to 25 wins in 28 fights, with 22 wins by KO. "I just want to thank my wonderful family and all my friends, for this win," Green said. "I've had so much support from all of Australia and I'm so proud to represent this country." Green ended the fight kissing the tattoo of his daughter and being chaired inside the ring before the announcement. Immediately after, Green ran to his wife kissed her then her bump, emulating Pat Cash's famous 1987 Wimbledon win by running into the crowd and embracing his family. Any doubts over Green's legitimacy as a world champion – after he was made interim WBC champion at super-middleweight after beating Eric Lucas in Canada four years ago – were wiped away.

Mayweather Wins in 10!!

Mayweather Wins in 10!!
Brave Ricky Hatton lost his bid for the WBC welterwight title after being stopped in the 10th round by champion Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas. Mayweather landed a stunning left to end Hatton's tilt after withstanding the Briton's early onslaught. Hatton kept to his all action plan to have Mayweather reeling early on. But referee Joe Cortez ended the contest one minute, 35 seconds into the 10th as Mayweather followed up his stunning punch that put Hatton down.

Mayweather Says hes better than ALI.

Mayweather Says hes better than ALI.
Mayweather and his trainer, Roger Mayweather, are back on the attack with a noisy claim on history. Mayweather Jr. told the BBC he could retire today and be remembered as the best ever, better than Muhammad Ali and better than Sugar Ray Robinson. Anybody with questions about the Ali reference was met with expletives from Roger, also his uncle. "Hell, yeah, he's more skilled than Ali," Roger Mayweather said last week during a conference call. He and Roger forgot to mention Joe Louis, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard and Archie Moore. They also forgot to mention Ricky Hatton, although that one won't be decided until they fight on Dec. 8 at Las Vegas.  For some reason im laughing allready maybe its because Floyd Mayweather doesnt FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY AND STING LIKE A BEE! hahaha

GREEN Vs DREWS LH World title fight.
Green Machine Promotions has successfully been able bring the WBA light heavy weight world champion, German based Croatian Stipe Drews, to Perth to defend his world title.

This will be Green's first attempt at a light heavy weight world title after quickly moving into the top 10 of all major sanctioning bodies since moving up in weight from super middle weight. His curent record stands at 27 fights, 24 wins, 22 by knockout and just 3 defeats.

Though Croatian Drews is 33 fights with 32 wins (13 KO's) and only one loss which was against fellow Australian Paul Briggs. He has never been knocked out and gained the title from Italian Silvio Branco.

Green wants third crack at nemisis Beyer!!

Green wants third crack at nemisis Beyer!!

Danny Green may get a third tilt at his old German nemesis Markus Beyer, while he waits for a crack at IBO world lightheavyweight boxing champion Antonio Tarver.

In two WBC world title challenges in Germany, Australian Green suffered a controversial disqualification loss to Beyer in August 2003 and a majority points defeat in their rematch 19 months later.

Green knocked Beyer down twice in the first bout before a contentious ruling led to his disqualification and he also floored the German in the final round of their second contest.

Beyer 36, hasn't fought since losing the WBC title to Denmark's Mikkel Kessler last October.

While Beyer hadn't officially retired, Green admitted he thought the chance of a third bout with the German had gone until he read an internet article a few days ago in which his old foe was reported as saying he intended fighting again.

The Green camp is initiating discussions with Beyer's management team about a fight in Australia, while waiting for a reply to their offer for American Tarver to defend his IBO title in Perth.

"A world title is what I want to achieve, but the fact that this Beyer fight means so much to me, it's hard to choose between the two of them," Green said.

"We've been in touch with Tarver's manager Al Heyman, who ouragent Don Majeski knows very well.

"They've had pretty extensive negotiations and we're just waiting to see what the outcome is of that and hopefully we'll have an announcement pretty soon.

"But we don't want to put our eggs all in one basket and if that wasn't to take place, there's the Beyer rematch.

"It said on a website that Markus Beyer was making his return to the ring, he never retired, but he's returning and that made my ears prick up.

"At this stage of my career I'm only looking for the big fights that are out there, and the ones that make the most sense.

"Although there wouldn't be a title on the line, it would be a massive fight with Beyer in Australia.

"With both of our histories and rankings we could probably get one of the organisations to make this fight a light heavyweight eliminator."

Since winning his last fight against American Otis Griffin back in July, 34-year-old Green has indulged in his other sporting passion.

He spent two weeks in the Maldives, surfing for five or more hours a day.

"I was surfing a hell of a lot every day and that really kept my fitness up," Green said.

Ruthless Johanneson retains title!

Ruthless Johanneson retains title!
Carl Johanneson retained his British super-featherweight title in a savage brawl with Michael Gomez at the Doncaster Dome.

The Leeds man floored his opponent with a big right hand in round six, although Gomez did manage to get to his feet.

But Johanneson continued to pile on the pressure and with Gomez unsteady on his feet, referee Micky Vann wisely stepped in to end the contest.

Gomez said: "It was a ridiculous stoppage. I was perfectly alright."

It was a huge win for Johanneson, who got his career back on track after his shock loss to Leva Kirakosyan three months ago.

Next up could be another domestic title defence against his mandatory challenger Kevin Mitchell, the highly rated and unbeaten Londoner.

But Johanneson's promoter and trainer Frank Maloney said: "We'll sit down and see where we go from here.

"Mitchell is next in line, but after watching Carl's performance here he might not be interested."
