Who are We? Knox Basketball was established in the early 1970’s to provide youth from the City of Knox with a sporting and social infrastructure to develop and promote personal, team and social skills in a sporting environment. The Association was born at the Mossfield Avenue Facility in 1974 with an after school competition. In 1980 it’s headquarters moved to the 3 court facility in Park Crescent at Boronia which was expanded to six courts in 1989. The Association is run by an army of volunteers, a Chief Executive Officer, and four full-time administrative staff based at Knox Basketball Stadium in Park Crescent, Boronia. We were the first Association to employ a Director of Coaching on a full-time basis, which has added strength to our children’s development program. Many committed youngsters are so keen that they rise in time to attend the stadium at 6.00am on weekdays for additional training. Our competition has evolved to be one of the strongest in Australia with a continually high level of membership. It is a non-profit association whose membership is comprised of basketball teams. All players in a team are considered members. The Association has maintained its membership through innovative community programs and a philosophy of being run on a sustainable footing. Beginner Programs Knox Basketball offers Learn to Play clinics at the Knox Stadium on Monday and Wednesday afternoons between 4-5pm on a Scool Term basis. This is a great way for children to learn some of the skills of the game prior to entering the Junior Domestic competition. Where to Play Knox Basketball offers both senior and junior competitions. Seniors are played from Sunday through to Thursday nights and offer male, female, mixed and veterans competitions. For more informations contact Daniel Smith at the Stadium on 9762-1298. Knox Basketball's junior competition consists of 17 junior clubs which are basically geographically based in the Knox and surrounding region. Junior competition is played on Saturdays for Under 8 to Under 16 boys and girls, and on Sundays for Under 18, 20 and 23's.
