Presidents Update (30/4/2013)
In part it’s the great support we receive from our sponsors that allow us to keep our registration fees down to one the cheapest in the area. I’m pleased to say we have a large number of sponsors who have signed up to support the club again in the 2013 season and we welcome a number of new sponsors. As the sponsors support the club we also ask that our members when they have the opportunity support our sponsors.
Over the first two weeks of the season we have hosted two weeks of Year 9 grading games at both Seacrest and at Percy Doyle in addition to our normal club games. As a club we’re extremely lucky to have two high class facilities with three full sized grounds that can support high quality competition.
This year as a club we have made a decision to provide an increased level of financial support for our members in the unfortunate circumstance that a player or team official is injured in a football associated activity. We have upgraded our insurance coverage from Bronze to Platinum resulting in increased benefits and have also upgraded the capital benefits for Quadriplegia and Paraplegia from $250K to $1M. This comes at a substantial cost however we believe the support it would provide to our members is worth the investment.
Please keep an eye out for information on the upcoming social function. This is a key item on the social agenda and major fundraiser for the club. This year we’re proposing a quiz night which follows on from the very successful Bogan Bing held last year. Since advertising their availability at the Coaches and Managers meetings the demand for tickets has been tremendous. If you’re interested in attending speak with your teams social coordinator or manager to secure a ticket.
I’d like to welcome on board a number of new committee members that were confirmed at the AGM or have come on board over the last couple of months. This includes Cory Lake, Tony Sheard, Dave Beaman, Kerrin Sampson, Julie Wilson and Adam Armstrong. There is always room for more so if you are interested we would be more than happy to have some more helping hands.
Enjoy your football.
Mark Lawler
President
