Officials and volunteers

Wheelchair basketball, just like its able-bodied counterpart, is always looking for good officials - referees, scoretable officials and statisticians. The game cannot run without these skilled individuals and they are always in demand.

Referees should have significant able-bodied experience before trying wheelchair basketball. It's not so much about knowing the rules but more to do with having developed the authority to control a game. If you would like a new challenge in your refereeing career, and the realistic opportunity of travelling with teams on overseas tours, contact Wheelchair Sports NSW on (02)9809 5260 or by email admin@wsnsw.org.au

The WheelKings would like to hear directly from anyone who is keen to try scoretable officiating (scorekeeper, game clock operator, 24 second clock operator, scoreboard operator) or statistical recording for our national league home games. Nationally-certified training will be provided but you'll need to bring a high level of concentration and attention to detail as a prerequisite. Bench personnel receive payment for their services and their skills are seemlessly transferrable to the able-bodied game.

Volunteers are also such an important part of our WheelKings national league operation. We require people for a range of duties on game days - doorkeepers, equipment handlers, visiting team attendants, VIP attendants, PA operator, announcer, program distributors, floor wipers, signage handlers. Team shirts, drinks and after-game suppers are provided - and you get to enjoy elite athletes competing at the highest level in the country!

If you think you have what it takes, and you'd like to be part of a fun team doing an essential job on game day, send us an email at wheelkings@three.com.au
