WNBL CAREER NOTES: Deanna joined the Bendigo Spirit for season 2011/12 after missing the entire 2010/11 season due to injury. She teamed up with Kristi Harrower to form a strong backcourt. In the 2009/10 season Deanna joined the Sydney Uni Flames and was named in the WNBL All-Star Five for the second consecutive season. Deanna claimed the runner-up spot for Sydney’s MVP award and was named Player of the Week twice, averaging 16.1 points and reaching double figures in 18 of 22 games. Returning to the league with the Perth Lynx in 2008/09, after three seasons overseas, Deanna was named in the All-Star Five, was the second highest scorer in the league with 20.8 points per game, and won the award for Best Free Throw Shooting Percentage after averaging a phenomenal 89.7 per cent from the free throw line. Deanna also ranked in the top ten for steals, assists, offensive rebounds, and 3-pt shooting percentage.

GENERAL BASKETBALL NOTES: 2011 and 2012 Deanna played for the Geelong Supercats in the SEABL and was Player of the Week in Round 15; 2010 Deanna spent the off-season playing with the Kilsyth Cobras in the 2010 SEABL and was one of the leading scorers in the league. Deanna was selected in the 2009 Opals squad, making the team for tours to China and Europe. Her Basketball highlights are her first game for Australia and winning the AIS Grand Final. She has played basketball in England, Portugal (Portuguese Champions), Russia (Siberia) and Italy (Northern). She represented Australia in 2002 (South East Asian Games) and has been an Australian Opals Squad Member since 2005-2009. Deanna went to America and Korea with AIS. Deanna represented Country Victoria at U16 (1995), U18 (1996 & 1997) Australian Junior Championships and Victoria at U20 Australian Junior Championships. Vic Country was U18 Champions in 1996 & 1997 and Deanna was captain in 1997. She was All Australian in 1995, 1996 & 1997.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Deanna’s favourite basketball players are Penny Taylor, Lauren Jackson, Manu Ginobili, Magic Johnson and Steve Nash. Her favourite foods are ice cream, Allen’s Lollies, Silverside and Fruit & Vegetables! Favourite Actors are Denzel Washington, Adam Sandler, Julia Roberts and Drew Barrymore. Music Preference is RnB, Old School Music and acoustic. For dinner she would invite Julia Gillard, Gordon Ramsay & Michael Jordan. Personal Interests include spending time with people she loves, going to the beach, going to the movies, meeting new people and seeing new places. Deanna ALWAYS wears odd socks and doesn’t like pasta.

COACH'S COMMENT: We are very happy to have Doccy back in the west. Doccy is a very versatile player that can score in a number of ways and Deanna’s defensive talents will also be called upon this season. Deanna’s National team, WNBL and international experience will be a great asset to the program this season.

In the 2009/10 season she averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2 points per game...In the 2008/09 season Kaye played 20 games for Perth and averaged 6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2 assists per game. She scored 18 points in her third WNBL game v Canberra and averaged 5.8 points per game for the season 2005/06.

Kaye has won Perth Lynx Most Improved Player Award in 2006/2007. Kaye has represented WA in U16, U18 & U20 level at the Australian Junior Championships. She has played 10 years of SBL for Mandurah & Rockingham and coached Mandurah Magic U14 Girls team at National Club Championships in 2007.

Kaye’s favourite basketball players are Sam McKinnon & Penny Taylor. Her favourite food is Risotto and Smarties and her favourite pizza topping is salmon. Favourite movies are Something about Mary, Black Balloon & Sweetest Thing. Favourite Actors include Kate Hudson & Cameron Diaz. Her favourite sportsperson is Michael Jordan. Her interests include shopping, watching DVD’s and relaxing; Kaye also talks in her sleep.

COACH’S COMMENTS: Kaye missed a large part of last season due to shoulder surgery but this year has come back fitter and stronger. Kaye has had a great pre-season and has also had a great SBL season with Rockingham Flames. Kaye is one of our more experienced players with this club and we will draw on that experience this year.

WNBL CAREER NOTES: In a tough season for the Waves Melissa stood strong, averaging 10.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.Melissa played in 21 games for the Waves in season 2010/11 and averaged 13.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game; In the 2009/10 season Melissa played 21 games, she averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.1 steals per game... In the 2008/09 season Melissa tallied a career high 247 points, 83 rebounds, 86 assists and 21 steals in 20 games to average 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals... Melissa averaged 9.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 2007/2008… She averaged 7.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for Perth in 2006/2007, shooting at 45% from the field… She also shot at 83% from the free-throw line... She played 23 games in 2005/2006 season with Adelaide, including two playoffs and averaged 4.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game... Between 2001 and 2005 she played 67 games for Perth and averaged 7.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

GENERAL BASKETBALL NOTES: 2011 Melissa played for the Willetton Tigers in WA’s SBL competition; 2010 Melissa played for the Willetton Tigers in WA’s SBL competition; Melissa was a member of the Australian U21 team in 2002 and has represented WA Metro at U16, U18s and U20 level at the National Junior Championships... She attended the Australian Junior Camp in 1999, 2002 and 2003 and won the 2004 WA State League Championship… During 2008/2009 WNBL Season, Melissa played her 150th WNBL game.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Her favourite basketball player is Penny Taylor and most admired athlete is Lance Armstrong. Her favourite movie is Dirty Dancing and she loves watching Packed to the Rafters and Fox Sports News. Her favourite food is salmon and her favourite music is the "oldies." Melissa always puts her left shoe on first, loves going out on the boat and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

COACH'S COMMENTS: “Min” has become a real spiritual leader for this club over the past 10 years and will become the clubs most capped player this season. We will be utilizing Melissa’s ability to score and shoot the ball on the offensive end and will also challenge her to defend some key players from game to game. The Waves team will also call on Melissa’s leadership qualities and skills this year.

WNBL CAREER NOTES: This is Rebecca’s first season at the Townsville Fire.Rebecca played in 19 games for the West Coast Waves in season 2010/11 and averaged 7.2 points per game, including a season-high 20 points against Bulleen on 14 November 2010.In the 2009/10 season Rebecca played 22 games for the Perth Lynx and averaged 8.8 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game…Rebecca played all 22 games for Perth in the 2008/2009 season. She averaged 10.2 points, 1.5 assists and 1.3 rebounds... She played one game for Perth in the 2003/2004 season and posted 2 points in her appearance

She played in the Australian Youth team at Oceania Games in Coffs Harbour and attended Lake Region State College in North Dakota USA, Montana State University in Montana, USA. She toured Bahamas with Montana State University... Basketball highlights include Australian Youth Team Gold Medal in 2004, NJCAA National Champions in 2005/2006, NJCAA 2nd Team All American, Conference MVP in 2005 and 1st team All Conference in 2006… Rebecca was the Big Sky Conference New Comer of the Year in 2007... Rebecca was member of the All Conference 2nd Team in 2007 and All Conference 1st Team in 2008. She also played in the Big Sky Championship Game.

Samantha played two games for the Lynx in season 2008/09 and averaged four points per game.
