Double defeat in Perth

It's been a long time since the WheelKings won a game in Perth and this season's trip to the far west was more difficult than most. The young Wenty team took a couple of hidings from Perth but they're keeping their heads up.

Coach Hewson admitted that they had no chance of winning against the finest team in the 23 year history of the NWBL. He simply gave his young charges the opportunity to do their best, knowing that this current WheelKings team is 2 or 3 years off being really competitive against the big guns of the league. Saturday's game fresh off the plane was terrible but Sunday's contest gave a much better indication of where Wenty is at in terms of development.

Sunday revealed a much improved performance for veterans Craig Cannane (24 points, 18 rebounds) and Kylie Gauci (18 points, 8 assists) who both showed great leadership. Details of the 107-51 loss are at http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches/17/02/06/20/18BGAZBAv4/
