Gliders 4th at World Championships

The Australian Gliders jumped to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter of the bronze medal game against old foes Canada. They maintained a 10 point lead at half-time before a disastrous second half ended their chance of taking home a medal.

The final score of 59-49 doesn't reflect how dominant the Gliders were in the first half. They were hitting their shots at around 50% accuracy and looked certain to win. However, Canada cranked up the defence after the main break, forcing tougher shots from the Gliders, and in turn scoring numerous transition baskets.

WheelKings guard Kylie Gauci had a solid tournament and was on court for the majority of minutes throughout. She had several outstanding games and was top scorer in the quarter-final and semi-final.
