Team Profile - Sydney Razorbacks

The Sydney Razorbacks do have their problems. Key big man Darren Skuse has been missing all season, firstly because of commitments to his European club. Then, upon his return to Australia, he reportedly underwent foot surgery. Also missing due to injury is promising young newcomer to the Australian Rollers, John McPhail.

Even with the absence of those 2 key players, the Razorbacks still present a formidible line-up. They have 3 exceptional players who all won gold in Beijing - Brendan Dowler, Grant Mizens and Australia's only dual gold medallist in wheelchair basketball Troy Sachs who led his Rollers team to victory in Atlanta 1996.

Complimenting those 3 are Australian Gliders and Beijing bronze medallists Sarah Stewart and Katie Hill, and U23 Australian representative Colin Smith who debuted for the Australia senior team at the recent Rollers World Challenge. Michael Auprince is a tall and talented junior, and then there is Nick Taylor who has represented South Africa with distinction for many years. He is looking to become an Australian citizen and played for the Rollers in the World Challenge where his ball handling, defence and long-range shooting drew plenty of notice.

The Razorbacks and their previous incarnation the Slix have a proud heritage, having won 7 titles since 1992. It would be foolish to write them off because of a couple of injuries when there is so much talent still on deck.
