WNBL CAREER NOTES:
Cayla joined the Thunder in season 2010/11 and played in all 24 games including two finals. She averaged 11.3 points and 9.3 total rebounds per game in the regular season. She led the league total rebounds per game as well as defensive rebounds per game with 6.9 per game. Cayla joins the Logan Thunder in 2010/11 after winning the Adelaide Lightning MVP Award in 2009/10. In her 2009/10 season with Adelaide, Cayla averaged 15.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game and led the team in blocks (32) and steals (27). Cayla averaged a career best 15.5 points and 8.9 points in the 2008/09 season. Cayla averaged 14.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in 2007/08, winning the championship with Adelaide. She was named the Betty Watson Rookie of the Year in 2006/07 after amassing 153 points, 136 rebounds, 43 assists and 33 blocked shots for averages of 13.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 blocks per game in 21 games. Her 8.4 rebounds per game was also the third best in the league. In 2005/06, she averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 11 games.
GENERAL BASKETBALL CAREER NOTES:2011 named in the Australian World University Games team. 2011 Cayla played for the Cairns Dolphins in the QBL; 2010 Cayla played with the Sandringham Sabres in the SEABL; 2009 Cayla played for the Ballarat Lady Miners in the SEABL. Cayla represented SA Country at the U16 National Champs in 2003 and 2004, SA Country at the U18 National Champs in 2005, SA Country at the U18 National Champs 2006, SA at the U20 National Champs 2007 and 2008. At the 2007 FIBA U19 World Championship Cayla averaged 12.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Cayla made her Opals debut in 2008 against New Zealand. Cayla just finished a stint with Sandringham in SEABL (2010).
PERSONAL INFORMATION: Cayla has 1 older sister, 1 younger half sister and mum that live in SA and he dad lives in Cairns. She also lived in Fiji for 4 months in 2001 with her Dad. Her favourite food is chocolate.COACH’S COMMENTS: We are excited to welcome Cayla Francis to the Logan family. She is arguably one of the best talents that came out of the AIS in the past years. At 6'4 we expect her to impact our interior game on both ends of the floor.
